KIRSTIE ALLEY’S BIG LIFE: THE WEIGHT LOSS SEQUEL

Kirstie Alley is back. Get ready for more weight loss images of the star actress in living, breathing color. Kirstie Alley is returning to TV in the flesh…all of it. And this time she again seems larger than life, now that various weight loss photos reveal her personal weight is well over 200 pounds.

“Kirstie Alley’s Big Life” is the name of her new Sunday night reality TV series starting in March on A & E. I have been shown the trailer for the series. As a longtime television professional, I can safely report the content of “Kirstie Alley’s Big Life” looks quite “interesting” to say the least.

While the 59-year old Emmy Award winning actress hopes to regain her popularity with the series, she also hopes to lose weight again as part of the story line. Kirstie says, “You are going to see me lose weight in the show. We always see the before and after weight loss photos, but we never see the in between. The in between of weight loss photos is really the meat and potatoes. Pardon the pun.”

The cast includes Kirstie, her son, True, and daughter, Lillie (both from Kirstie’s former marriage to actor, Parker Stevenson). There is also Kelly and Kyle, the two young assistants of Ms. Alley, and her friend Jim, whom she affectionately calls her “Chubby Buddy.” As if that is not a wide enough cast of characters, Kirstie Alley also owns 25 animals, some of them wild. There are also wild moments involving paparazzi and much more.

I am old enough to remember how many guys like me thought Kirstie Alley was hot while she was starring on “Cheers” 20 years ago. Today, the 5-foot-8 actress is built more like the Cheers character, “Norm.” She is considered obese, reportedly tipping the scales somewhere in the neighborhood of 230 pounds.

Kirstie Alley gained nationwide attention as the spokesperson for Jenny Craig a couple of years ago when she lost 75 pounds on the program. But when that business relationship ended abruptly in 2008, Kirstie regained all the weight…and some.

Do you wonder if the paparazzi will be as interested and aggressive in capturing Kirstie Alley weight loss images as they were snapping pictures after her weight gains? For now, Kirstie Alley is a big target and she knows it. So I applaud her for taking this chance.

She confirms the title of the new TV series saying, “I have a big life. I have had all these reincarnations in one lifetime.” I hope for her sake, she succeeds in this next life as an actress. More importantly, I hope Kirstie Alley returns in this next life as a highly visible weight loss success story.

Millions of people continually fight up and down battles with their own personal weight loss goals. Another big-time weight loss win by Kirstie Alley would surely inspire others to reach the goal of seeing the before and after weight loss photos of their dreams once and for all.
